A cryptic note leads the Blackmoore sisters to a haunted island in the Atlantic Ocean. Many have looked for the treasures reported to be buried there by pirates decades ago, but precious few treasures have been found. And certainly not the powerful energy-infused jewel the Blackmoores are looking for. Abandoned for decades following several mysterious fatal accidents, the sisters have the island to themselves…or so they think. Aided by a lonesome pirate ghost, they navigate a maze of tunnels dug into the rocks where they encounter ancient booby-traps, malevolent spirits and natural disasters. But as they start to zero in on the location of the relic, it becomes clear that they are not alone and whoever else is on the island has no intention of leaving without the relic - even if it means killing the entire Blackmoore clan.

Fatal Fortune Blackmoore Sisters Mystery Leighann Dobbs Books

I enjoy these fairly short books that fall into the paranormal mystery category. The Blackmoore sisters (Morgan, Fiona. Jolene, and Celeste) each have special abilities and now work for a government agency. Over the course of the series they've gone from realizing they have special "talents" to actually doing things to hone and develop them. All except Celeste, because her ability is to see and talk to ghosts, and she really can't do much to make ghosts appear if they don't want to.
Celeste has started to learn to do spells and inn this book Celeste is having a crisis of confidence and thinks she doesn't bring much to the assignments they're given.
They're assignment is go to an island off the coast of Nova Scotia to retrieve a power infused relic that once belonged to Marie Antoinette. The island is reportedly home to pirate ghosts and many accidents have happened there over the years. They aren't the only ones looking for this power infused relic.
Because of Celeste's ability to talk to ghosts she's able to find information that leads them to the relic. Will they find it before the evil Dr. Bly's henchmen find it?
It was an enjoyable story except I got tired of hearing about Celeste karate ability. Mentioning it a few times is fine, but after that I felt as if the author was beating me over the head reminding me that Celeste has a black belt.

Fatal Fortune Blackmoore Sisters Mystery Leighann Dobbs Books Reviews

I have loved all the Blackmore books but this one was filled with too much Celeste whining. Every chapter she talked about her feelings of worthlessness. It took away from the story to listen to someone so down on themselves 98% of her storyline. It got so bad I skimmed the last half of the book and then read only the last two chapters after that. I will eventually start the next book in the series, but will give up on it if it is more of the same.
Little sister finally gets to feel useful. Fourth of the Blackmore Sisters, Celeste feels like a burden and always the least contributor to their family. She can see ghosts and cast spells, maybe, but compared to her sisters, she feels useless. Getting information from the ghost that hid the relic they seek proves helpful.
The story is fast paced with several villains. The girls go from disaster to disaster, then, have a big finish with dueling ghost pirates. It is a great adventure I am happy to recommend. Great clean fun with a little romance!
This book was good. I have read numerous Blackmore sisters books. Ms Dobbs books are written in series and the characters are the core characters along with new people in the stories. I like because if I accidentally read one out of . Order each book has enough information to enjoy the story. Since I don't like reviews that ruin the story, I like to give enough detail to say it is good without taking away your desire to read it. Great suspense and always mystery of who is good or bad guy!
I've been anxiously awaiting the arrival of this book! Like the previous books in this series, the plot was exciting and very well developed. The paranormal skills this time were focused more on Celeste, who was struggling with her insecurities of not feeling she has been pulling her weight during their previous missions. But she learned that she had her own skills after all, which helped solve the location and retrieval of the ancient relic. Belladonna also helped the Blackmoore sisters right when needed. I absolutely love this series, and can't wait until the next books are published.
The Blackmoore sisters are off to an island supposed to be where many many pirates have buried their treasures, including a neclace worn by Marie Antoinette. Not only are they up against Bly's evil henchmen, they also encounter a 300 year old ghost who will not allow any of the islands treasure to be taken. They also have to overcome hidden booby traps and decaying cavern tunnels, all while trying to decode an ancient message to find the X that marks the spot.
This was too much of a copy cat to the real Nova Scotia treasure island. You should have changed more of the details besides it being deserted, the caves and tunnels instead of a money pit. Real people have lost their lives on Oak Island and others have dedicated their lives searching for the treasure you easily ripped off in this tale. No one has told of find Marie Antoinette's jewels, yet, even after spending millions searching for them and other wonderful things. I have enjoyed dozens of your books. I am disgusted by this one.
I was intrigued by Celeste's budding new talent and how it facilitated the quest for the relic. I'm hoping future additions to the Blackmoor girl's adventures will grow her new ability.
I chuckled quite a lot having recognized bits and pieces from a certain reality program about an Island off Nova Scotia that is reputed to hold many secrets; centuries old tragedies, treasures, pirates, kings, Vikings & templars included. Being familiar with the challenges those particular searchers have faced, made this tale more enticing. It is too back neither Rick or his brother can communicate with ghosts to help them succeed in their quest. It was a pleasant book, made even more so by my fondness for the real life events utilized in the quest. However, with all of that real life material available to draw upon, I had hoped for more twists and turns.
